FAQ

Can I buy extra baggage online after booking?

Yes. Extra baggage can be purchased during the online booking flow or later through My Booking on airgreenland.com, but only for tickets bought directly on the Air Greenland website.

Where do I buy extra baggage?

During booking on airgreenland.com, afterwards in My Booking (https://www.airgreenland.com/my-booking/), via the Call Centre (a service fee applies), or at the check-in counter before departure. Travel-agency tickets must be handled through the agency.

When is the deadline to buy extra baggage online?

Order at least 4 hours before departure to get the best (pre-order) price. After that, only the higher check-in desk rate is available.

How does the airline calculate extra baggage charges?

Air Greenland uses a weight concept: excess over your ticket's included allowance is charged per 5 kg per flight, and the rate depends on route length, so it varies by routing.

Is it cheaper to buy extra baggage online in advance vs at the airport?

Yes. Buying online in advance saves up to 30% compared with paying at the check-in desk (e.g. Copenhagen-Nuuk from DKK 260 per 5 kg online versus from DKK 365 per 5 kg at check-in).

How many extra bags can I buy, and what are the bag limits?

Each traveller can pre-book at most 75 kg of extra baggage. No single checked bag may weigh more than 30 kg; heavier loads must be split into multiple pieces.

What are the overweight or oversized baggage rules?

Baggage over the included allowance is charged the per-kg excess rate. Loads above 75 kg cannot be pre-booked online and must be arranged with the Call Centre in advance (kilos, pieces and dimensions), as seats may need to be blocked; alternatively the baggage can go as cargo.

Do partner-operated or codeshare flights have different baggage rules?

It is not possible to purchase extra baggage for interline tickets, because Air Greenland uses a weight (kg) concept while partner airlines use a piece concept.

Can I get a refund or transfer extra baggage if I cancel or change my booking?

No. Pre-ordered (prepaid) excess baggage is non-refundable.

Are there any important exceptions or restrictions I should know?

Tickets bought through a travel agency cannot be topped up online — contact the agency. Excess baggage over 75 kg must go through the Call Centre, not My Booking.
