FAQ

Can I buy extra baggage online after booking?

A prepaid excess option exists for Harare-London flights (USD150/GBP150 for 0-23 kg), arranged before travel via the airline's sales offices or travel agent; the website publishes no self-service online excess purchase flow, and excess can always be paid at the airport of departure at check-in.

Where do I buy extra baggage?

Excess baggage is paid at the airport of departure at check-in. Prepaid excess on Harare-London flights is arranged in advance through Air Zimbabwe sales offices or travel agents; flights themselves are booked via airzimbabwe.aero, sales offices or travel agents.

When is the deadline to buy extra baggage?

Prepaid excess must be arranged before travel; otherwise excess is charged at check-in at the airport of departure. The airline publishes no fixed online cutoff time.

How does the airline calculate extra baggage charges?

Harare-London uses a piece/band model: a prepaid 0-23 kg excess band plus per-kg check-in rates and a flat 23-32 kg band fee, charged in USD ex-Harare and GBP ex-London. Domestic and regional routes use a pure per-kg excess model in USD. Rates are not directional beyond the point-of-departure currency.

How many extra bags can I buy, and what are the bag limits?

Authorised excess baggage is capped at 50 kg total; anything above depends on cargo and baggage space availability or must go as cargo freight. No single checked piece may exceed 32 kg, and weight cannot be pooled across bags.

What are the overweight or oversized baggage rules?

No single checked piece may weigh more than 32 kg; heavy items must be split across multiple suitcases. Weight pooling is not allowed: for example, with a 2 x 23 kg allowance, checking a 30 kg bag plus a 16 kg bag triggers an overweight surcharge on the heavy bag even though the total is under 46 kg.

Is it cheaper to buy extra baggage in advance vs at the airport?

Yes. On Harare-London, a prepaid 0-23 kg excess bag costs USD150 ex-Harare (about USD126 less than 23 kg at the USD12/kg check-in rate) and GBP150 ex-London; paying at check-in costs USD12 per kg ex-Harare or GBP10 per kg ex-London.

Are there any important exceptions or restrictions I should know?

Excess rates are subject to change without prior notice, are not directional, and are paid at the airport of departure. Baggage above 50 kg may be accepted only subject to space or must be sent as cargo freight.
