Buy Baggage
  1. Go to us.aircalin.com and open the My Booking section (or start an extra-baggage upgrade while booking a flight on the website).
  2. Retrieve your reservation in My Booking and select the extra baggage option for your flight.
  3. Choose the number of extra bags and confirm the prepaid rate shown.
  4. Complete the secured online payment no later than 30 hours before departure.
  5. Keep the confirmation: the prepaid allowance is attached to your ticket.

Can I buy extra baggage online after booking?

Yes. Extra baggage can be bought when booking on aircalin.com or afterwards in My Booking, up to 30 hours before departure, on direct flights operated by Aircalin with an Aircalin flight number.

Where do I buy extra baggage?

On the Aircalin website during the initial booking, or later in the My Booking section. For onward travel beyond the Aircalin network, extra baggage is arranged through an Aircalin agency or travel agency in New Caledonia and paid at the airport.

When is the deadline to buy extra baggage online?

Online purchase is available until 30 hours before departure. After that deadline, extra baggage can only be bought at the airport at the higher airport rate.

How does the airline calculate extra baggage charges?

Online prepaid rates are fixed per route for one extra bag of up to 23 kg (piece concept), with a 25% discount versus the airport rate. Wallis, Port-Vila and Nadi sectors on flights SB330/SB331 use a weight concept charged per kilogram at the airport instead.

Is it cheaper to buy extra baggage online in advance vs at the airport?

Yes. Upgrading the baggage allowance online gives a 25% discount compared with the airport rate; e.g. Noumea-Auckland costs 6,000 XPF online versus 8,000 XPF at the airport for one extra 23 kg bag.

How many extra bags can I buy, and what are the bag limits?

A maximum of 3 prepaid extra bags per passenger. Each extra bag may weigh up to 23 kg with total dimensions up to 158 cm (oversized 158-300 cm at a higher fee). Bags over 32 kg or 300 cm must go as airfreight via a freight forwarder.

What are the overweight or oversized baggage rules?

A bag weighing 24-32 kg can travel under an excess-weight fee (e.g. 4,000 XPF Noumea-Auckland for 1-9 additional kg). Oversized bags up to 23 kg with dimensions of 158-300 cm travel under the oversized fee (e.g. 12,000 XPF Noumea-Auckland). These apply to all bags exceeding the included allowance.

Do partner-operated or codeshare flights have different baggage rules?

The online prepaid service is only for direct flights operated by Aircalin with an Aircalin flight number; tickets combining Aircalin and partner flights are excluded. Excess fees on stopover sectors not operated by Aircalin follow the operating carrier's conditions.

Can I get a refund or transfer extra baggage if I cancel or change my booking?

Prepaid extra baggage is non-refundable, except when Aircalin rebooks you onto a flight not operated by Aircalin or when operational irregularities mean your bag was not flown. Transfer to another date on the same route is free if the new flight is eligible; the allowance is personal and cannot be transferred to another passenger.

Are there any important exceptions or restrictions I should know?

Online prepayment is not available on Wallis, Port-Vila and Nadi sectors on flights SB330/SB331 (weight concept, pay per kilogram at the airport). One free supplementary 23 kg sports-equipment bag per passenger applies on direct Aircalin flights (10 kg on Fiji, Wallis and Port-Vila routes) with 48-hour to 3-day prior notice.
