FAQ

Can I buy extra baggage online after booking?

Bahamasair does not publish an online prepaid extra-baggage product or prepay discount. Excess baggage is charged per the published rates table, normally settled at the airport, and reservations can be retrieved in My Booking with booking reference and surname.

Where do I buy extra baggage?

Retrieve your reservation in My Booking on bahamasair.com (or book.bahamasair.com) with your booking reference (PNR) and surname, and pay the applicable excess charges at the airport check-in counter per the published rates.

How does the airline calculate extra baggage charges?

Extra baggage charges are computed per piece: domestic first bag free, then $55.00 / $95.00 / $125.00 (+VAT) for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th+ bags; international and Cuba bags cost $35.00 / $55.00 / $95.00 / $125.00 for the 1st-4th+ bags, with overweight and oversize surcharges added to the piece price.

How many extra bags can I buy, and what are the bag limits?

Each checked piece is limited to 50 lbs (23 kg) and 62 inches total circumference. Bags 51-70 lbs (23-32 kg) travel for the piece price plus $50.00; bags over 70 lbs (32 kg) are not accepted. On international and Cuba routes, pieces over 62 inches cost the piece price plus $150.00, and pieces both overweight and oversized cost the piece price plus $175.00.

What are the overweight or oversized baggage rules?

Overweight (51-70 lbs): piece price + $50.00 on all route groups (plus VAT on domestic). Oversize (over 62 inches): piece price + $150.00, or piece price + $175.00 when also overweight, on international and Cuba routes. Bags over 70 lbs are refused on all routes.

Can I get a refund or transfer extra baggage if I cancel or change my booking?

Bahamasair states it will refund fees charged for optional services the passenger could not use due to irregular circumstances such as flight cancellation. Submit a refund request at the online Feedback form and select 'Refund' under Category.

Are there any important exceptions or restrictions I should know?

Cuba routes have higher television charges ($100.00-$180.00 vs $50.00-$125.00 elsewhere) and pets are not accepted to Cuba. Bicycles cost $125.00. Surfboards, windsurf and kite-surf boards and most sports equipment count as a checked bag piece. Hoverboards are not accepted, and styrofoam coolers or storage bins with perishables are not accepted.
