How to Add Extra Baggage & Prices on Bamboo Airways

Buy Baggage
  1. Go to bambooairways.com and check the Excess Baggage page for the package size and price that applies to your route and ticket-issue date.
  2. Open My Booking on bambooairways.com and retrieve your reservation with your booking reference and last name.
  3. Add a prepaid baggage package before the cutoff (at least 3 hours before departure on domestic routes; before the stop-booking deadline on Vietnam–Thailand) and complete the payment.
  4. If you already bought baggage and need more, or the online add fails, contact a Bamboo Airways ticket office, official agent, or the hotline +84 1900 1166.
  5. If buying at the airport, go to the check-in counter within 3 hours of departure; excess weight is rounded up to the nearest package, subject to capacity.

Prices

Domestic prepaid packages (20-60 kg) apply to tickets issued/reissued after June 20, 2026, priced in VND inclusive of VAT and unavailable within 3 hours of departure; buying 24+ hours ahead is cheaper than within 24 hours. Vietnam-Thailand prepaid packages (10-60 kg) apply to tickets issued/reissued from April 1, 2025, priced in USD ex-Vietnam / THB ex-Thailand, with off-peak rates outside Tet/summer peaks and higher peak rates (2025 peaks: Jan 21-Feb 8, May 20-Aug 15); pre-purchase closes 3 hours before departure ex-Ho Chi Minh City and 5 hours ex-Bangkok. Airport packages are sold within 3 hours of departure subject to capacity, with excess weight rounded up to the nearest package.

On Vietnam–Thailand, 10–20 kg is limited to 1 piece, 25–40 kg to 2 pieces, 45–60 kg to 3 pieces, and each extra 20 kg beyond 65 kg counts as 1 more piece.

How does the airline calculate extra baggage charges?

Extra baggage is sold in fixed weight packages (kg), not per piece. Domestic prepaid packages come in 20–60 kg; airport packages in 15/20 kg. Vietnam–Thailand prepaid packages come in 10–60 kg with separate off-peak and Tet/summer peak tables priced in USD (ex-Vietnam) or THB (ex-Thailand); airport packages come in 5–30 kg.
