FAQ

Can I buy extra baggage online after booking?

Yes. Add bags on the Extras page during booking (up to 3 bags per passenger), or later via the Manage Booking portal up to 1 hour before departure. More than 3 bags can only be bought at the airport on the day of departure.

Where do I buy extra baggage?

Buy extra bags on lift.co.za during booking (Extras page), after booking in the Manage Booking portal under Add Extras, or at the airport ticket desks on the day of departure.

When is the deadline to buy extra baggage online?

During booking you can add bags any time before completing the purchase. After booking, the detailed purchase guide allows extra bags via Manage Booking up to 1 hour before departure; the general baggage policy page more conservatively mentions 24 hours, so add bags as early as possible.

How does the airline calculate extra baggage charges?

Bags are charged per flight (one-way), so on a return trip you can add bags to one or both flights. During-booking bundles cost R200 for 1 bag, R450 for 2 bags and R750 for 3 bags; anything added after booking costs a flat R300 per bag per flight.

Is it cheaper to buy extra baggage online in advance vs at the airport?

Yes. Adding bags during booking (from R200 for 1 bag) is cheaper than adding them afterwards via Manage Booking or at the airport (R300 per bag per flight).

How many extra bags can I buy, and what are the bag limits?

Up to 3 checked bags per passenger can be booked online. Each checked bag may weigh up to 23 kg and measure up to 90 x 75 x 43 cm. Bags over these limits face heavy-bag fees or must go as cargo.

What are the overweight or oversized baggage rules?

Bags between 23 kg and 32 kg are heavy bags with an additional R200 fee levied at the airport. Bags over 32 kg, or larger than 200 x 80 x 75 cm, cannot be checked in and must be sent via cargo at your own expense.
