FAQ

Can I buy extra baggage online after booking?

Yes. Pre-pay excess baggage allowance bundles of 15 kg each (up to four bundles, 60 kg extra per seated passenger) can be bought online for all routes.

Where do I buy extra baggage?

Buy pre-pay excess baggage bundles on the Proflight Zambia website via Manage My Booking; excess can also be paid at the airport or, for routings where first check-in is not a Proflight Zambia flight, from the first operating carrier.

When is the deadline to buy extra baggage online?

Pre-pay excess baggage is not sold within four hours of flight departure; inside that window only standard airport excess rates apply.

How does the airline calculate extra baggage charges?

Online pre-pay bundles are sold in fixed 15 kg units at a flat per-bundle price by journey type (ZMW, USD or ZAR depending on origin), while airport excess is charged per kilogram. Pre-pay bundles save money compared with airport rates.

How many extra bags can I buy, and what are the bag limits?

Up to four 15 kg pre-pay bundles (60 kg extra) per seated passenger; airport excess is also capped at 60 kg per seated passenger. No single checked piece may exceed 32 kg or 157 cm total dimensions. Excess is accepted on a standby basis subject to space. Infants under 2 years receive 10 kg checked baggage plus a collapsible pram, buggy, stroller or car seat.

Is it cheaper to buy extra baggage online in advance vs at the airport?

Yes. Pre-pay online bundles are cheaper than paying the standard per-kg excess fee at the airport.

What are the overweight or oversized baggage rules?

The airline does not publish separate overweight or oversized piece fees; any weight above the free allowance is charged at the standard excess rates. No single piece over 32 kg is accepted as checked baggage; bags over 32 kg and excess above the 60 kg limit must go as cargo.

Do partner-operated or codeshare flights have different baggage rules?

If your ticket was issued by Air Tanzania, Emirates, Ethiopian Airlines, Kenya Airways, Qatar Airways, South African Airways, RwandAir or Turkish Airlines, that airline's checked allowance also applies on Proflight Zambia flights, but frequent-flyer extra allowances are not honoured and the 5 kg hand baggage limit still applies.

Can I get a refund or transfer extra baggage if I cancel or change my booking?

Pre-purchased excess baggage is non-refundable and does not guarantee the baggage travels on the same flight.

Are there any important exceptions or restrictions I should know?

Pre-pay bundles cannot be bought on routings where the first check-in is not a Proflight Zambia operated flight. Sports equipment counts toward the free allowance and larger items need pre-clearance via [email protected] at least 48 hours before the flight. Firearms need a US$25 per sector handling fee and declaration at the airport sales office at least two hours before departure.
