How to Add Extra Baggage & Prices on Spring Airlines Japan

Buy Baggage
  1. Go to en.ch.com and log in to your Spring membership account.
  2. Open Manage My Reservations and retrieve the booking ticketed on the official website.
  3. Go to All the Extras, then Excess Baggage, and select the weight allowance you need.
  4. Pay online by credit card or PayPay; if you prefer cash, pay at the airport check-in counter on the day of departure.
  5. Alternatively, call the Spring Japan Call Center during business hours up to 2 hours before departure to add baggage allowance.

Can I buy extra baggage online after booking?

Yes. Passengers ticketed on the official website can buy checked baggage allowance online up to 2 hours before departure, or through the Spring Japan Call Center during business hours.

Where do I buy extra baggage?

Log in to your Spring membership account and buy it on the reservation management page (Manage My Reservations, All the Extras, Excess Baggage), or call the Spring Japan Call Center.

When is the deadline to buy extra baggage online?

Advance online and call-center purchases close 2 hours before departure and are limited to one purchase per person (excluding infants). After that, baggage can only be added at the airport counter or boarding gate on the day of departure at higher rates.

How does the airline calculate extra baggage charges?

Fees are charged by total weight tier (up to 5/10/15/20/25/30 kg), not per piece. Domestic flights are priced in JPY; international flights in JPY/CNY. From December 21, 2026 a new off-peak/peak season price structure with 10/20/30 kg tiers applies.

Is it cheaper to buy extra baggage online in advance vs at the airport?

Yes. Advance online/call-center rates are roughly half the airport counter rates (for example domestic up to 20 kg through Dec 20, 2026: 3,000 yen online vs 6,000 yen at the counter), and boarding-gate rates are highest.

How many extra bags can I buy, and what are the bag limits?

Each checked piece must weigh no more than 30 kg. On international flights there is no piece limit. On domestic flights plan for a maximum of three checked bags per person (the airline FAQ states three; the page body elsewhere says no piece limit). Size limit is 203 cm total dimensions per piece (through Dec 20, 2026); from Dec 21, 2026 the longest side must be within 100 cm and total dimensions within 203 cm.

What are the overweight or oversized baggage rules?

Baggage over 30 kg is charged per extra kg at the airport only (500 yen/kg domestic; JPY 1,500/CNY 90 per kg international) and cannot be prepaid. Oversized baggage and sports equipment also pay airport-only fees plus the applicable weight-tier fee; firearms and swords cannot be checked in at all.

Can I pay for extra baggage with cards, loyalty points, or miles?

Website and call-center purchases accept credit card or PayPay only. Cash payments are accepted at the airport check-in counter on the day of departure.

Can I get a refund or transfer extra baggage if I cancel or change my booking?

Checked baggage fees, oversize/sports equipment fees, and additional baggage seat fees are all non-refundable, and an unused baggage allowance cannot be transferred to a travel companion.

Are there any important exceptions or restrictions I should know?

Baby strollers, infant car seats, and wheelchairs/mobility aids are each checked free (one per infant/person). Electric bicycles and electric-powered transport items are not accepted. Tennis/badminton rackets within carry-on limits may be brought on board. IJ (Spring Japan) and 9C (Spring Airlines) flights have separate baggage pages and policies.
