How to Add Extra Baggage & Prices on Air Seoul

Buy Baggage
  1. Go to flyairseoul.com and retrieve your booking through My Trips (reservation lookup), or start from a new flight booking.
  2. Choose the add-on services / pre-paid baggage option and select the first 15 kg block (23 kg piece on Guam), adding extra 5 kg blocks if needed.
  3. Pay in the same currency as the original ticket purchase.
  4. For travel-agency package (group) bookings, call the Air Seoul reservation center at 1800-8100 to add baggage instead.
  5. After payment the baggage is linked to your booking; if you later change or cancel the itinerary it is automatically cancelled and refunded, except within 4 hours of departure.

Can I buy extra baggage online after booking?

Yes. Pre-paid excess baggage can be bought on the website or mobile page at the time of booking or afterwards via reservation lookup, on all domestic and international routes.

Buy it on flyairseoul.com at booking time or later through My Trips (reservation lookup) under add-on services. Travel-agency package (group) bookings can only add baggage via the Air Seoul reservation center at 1800-8100.

When is the deadline to buy extra baggage online?

Online purchase closes 4 hours before departure on international flights and 48 hours before departure on domestic flights. International pre-paid rates are cheaper when bought more than 48 hours before departure.

How does the airline calculate extra baggage charges?

International pricing is weight-based per route band (Japan, China/Hong Kong, Southeast Asia, Guam): a first 15 kg block (23 kg piece on Guam), then extra 5 kg blocks at the same block rate. Domestic pricing is a flat per-5-kg pre-paid rate. Special (lowest) fares include no free international allowance, so the first block covers the whole bag.

Is it cheaper to buy extra baggage online in advance vs at the airport?

Yes. Pre-paid online rates are lower than airport rates (e.g. Korea-Japan first 15 kg KRW 40,000 pre-paid vs KRW 60,000 at the airport, plus KRW 12,000 per extra kg at the airport). Buying more than 48 hours before departure is cheaper than buying within 48 hours.

How many extra bags can I buy, and what are the bag limits?

The airline publishes no maximum number of extra pieces that can be purchased; limits are per piece: each checked piece may not exceed 30 kg (repack if heavier) or 203 cm total dimensions. Bags checked at the boarding gate incur a separate per-piece gate fee plus any excess-weight charge, and sports items over 277 cm total dimensions may be refused.

What are the overweight or oversized baggage rules?

There is no separate published overweight surcharge table; excess weight is charged through the per-kg / per-5-kg excess rates. Single-piece limits apply: max 30 kg and max 203 cm total dimensions for checked baggage.

Do partner-operated or codeshare flights have different baggage rules?

Pre-paid excess baggage cannot be bought for codeshare flights operated by other airlines or partner-operated flights. Asiana codeshare passengers pay the same sports-equipment charges as Air Seoul passengers.

Can I get a refund or transfer extra baggage if I cancel or change my booking?

If you change or cancel (refund) your itinerary, pre-paid excess baggage is automatically cancelled and refunded. No refund is given for itinerary changes or cancellations made within 4 hours of departure.

Are there any important exceptions or restrictions I should know?

Checked-baggage rules for flights departing Japan depend on government approval. Website payment for add-on services is only accepted in the same currency as the original ticket purchase. In Southeast Asia, excess fees are payable in USD only.
