FAQ

Can I buy extra baggage online after booking?

Yes. Prepaid baggage can be bought on the Manage Your Booking online tool, at Fiji Airways Sales Offices, or via the 24/7 Global Reservations Centre.

Where do I buy extra baggage?

Buy prepaid baggage in Manage Your Booking with your booking reference and last name, or at a Fiji Airways Sales Office / Global Reservations Centre. Within 2 hours of departure, buy at the airport check-in counter at excess rates.

When is the deadline to buy extra baggage online?

Prepaid domestic baggage must be purchased more than 2 hours before departure (4 hours on Fiji Airways international routes). Inside that window only airport excess rates apply.

Is it cheaper to buy extra baggage online in advance vs at the airport?

Yes. Prepaid rates (e.g. Nadi-Suva FJD 49.50) are lower than airport excess rates (e.g. Nadi-Suva $61.88 per piece), and prepaid rates are not sold at the airport.

How many extra bags can I buy, and what are the bag limits?

Each checked piece must not exceed 15 kg prepaid (heavy pieces 16-20 kg only at airport rates) and 115 cm total dimensions. All Fiji Link flights are weight-restricted, so excess bags travel space-available and may go on a later flight.

How does the airline calculate extra baggage charges?

Domestic extra bags are charged per piece up to 15 kg with a fixed prepaid rate per route (FJD 49.50-136.13); heavier pieces (16-20 kg) incur a separate heavy-piece charge at the airport.

What are the overweight or oversized baggage rules?

Pieces of 16-20 kg incur a route-specific heavy-piece charge at the airport. Bulky items (surfboards, golf clubs) cost FJD 115.00 per item plus any excess piece rate over 15 kg, within ATR (180x44x44 cm) and DHC (180x40x20 cm) size limits.

Do partner-operated or codeshare flights have different baggage rules?

Passengers on codeshare tickets for FJ routes may also buy prepaid excess baggage. If international and domestic sectors share one ticket, the Fiji Airways international allowance applies; on separate tickets each ticket's allowance applies.

Can I get a refund or transfer extra baggage if I cancel or change my booking?

Prepaid baggage is non-refundable except with a fully refundable ticket (refunded together) or when Fiji Airways cannot carry it for operational/safety reasons; it can transfer to an amended travel date but not to another customer. Refundable flexible fares incur a 50% ancillary refund fee and claims must be filed within 14 days of the last flight.

Are there any important exceptions or restrictions I should know?

LITE fares include no checked bag (carry-on 7 kg only) and infants get no checked bag allowance. Excess baggage is accepted space-available only and is not guaranteed on your flight. Grouped prepaid allowances require the whole group to check in together.
