FAQ

Can I buy extra baggage online after booking?

LASER publishes prepaid extra-piece fares that must be arranged before the 24-hour pre-departure cutoff, but its website shows no Manage Booking self-service flow; tickets are sold via WhatsApp and sales offices, and excess baggage is paid at the airport counter.

Where do I buy extra baggage?

Arrange prepaid 23 kg pieces in advance through a LASER point of sale (see Puntos de Venta y Oficinas on laserairlines.com) and pay excess, overweight, or special baggage at the airport counter.

When is the deadline to buy extra baggage?

Prepaid extra pieces can only be purchased up to 24 hours before the scheduled departure (site note: 'solo se puede adquirir 24 antes a la salida programada del vuelo'). Excess and special baggage is settled at the airport on the day of travel.

Is it cheaper to buy extra baggage in advance vs at the airport?

Yes. Prepaid 23 kg pieces are cheaper than the same pieces paid at the airport (for example Santo Domingo prepaid USD 50 vs USD 80/100/120 at the airport; Caracas-Madrid prepaid USD 120 vs USD 140/160 at the airport).

How many extra bags can I buy, and what are the bag limits?

No checked or excess piece may exceed 32 kg (72 lbs on the excess-fee page). Boxes larger than 55x35x40 cm fall in the higher box tier. Extra baggage on all routes is subject to flight availability and aircraft weight and balance, and extra baggage is not available on the Bogota-Caracas direction.

How does the airline calculate extra baggage charges?

Extra pieces are sold per 23 kg piece with a fixed prepaid fare per route. Baggage above the allowance is charged per additional kilogram up to 32 kg, and domestic excess is charged as 1% of the one-way fare up to 32 kg.

What are the overweight or oversized baggage rules?

Overweight pieces are accepted up to 32 kg and charged per additional kilogram (USD 10/kg on most regional international routes; USD/EUR 10-16/kg on Madrid routes; 1% of the one-way fare on domestic routes). Oversized boxes and special items follow the fixed special-baggage table.

Do partner-operated or codeshare flights have different baggage rules?

Miami flights are operated by Global X and have their own prepaid (USD 75) and airport (USD 100/120) piece fares and special-baggage prices.

Are there any important exceptions or restrictions I should know?

Extra baggage is unavailable on the Bogota-Caracas direction for weight and balance reasons. International excess fares already include taxes. Unaccompanied minors may not carry excess or additional pieces (per the airline's unaccompanied-minor page).
