FAQ

Can I buy extra baggage online after booking?

Advance excess baggage must be added to your passenger PNR (via Safarilink reservations) at least 48 hours before departure; the site publishes no self-service online checkout flow for excess baggage.

Where do I buy extra baggage?

Book advance bundles through Safarilink reservations ([email protected], +254 730 888 000) so they are added to your PNR; pay check-in excess at the airport counter; unaccompanied baggage is handled under the Cargo Module.

When is the deadline to buy extra baggage online?

Advance bundled baggage must be booked no later than 48 hours before departure; baggage added within 6 hours of departure or at the airport is charged at the higher check-in rates and carried only subject to space availability.

Is it cheaper to buy extra baggage online in advance vs at the airport?

Yes. Advance bundles cost $50 / $80 / $145 for 0-10 / 11-20 / 21-30 kg, while the same bundles at check-in cost $50 / $100 / $165, so booking at least 48 hours ahead saves $20 on the larger bundles.

How many extra bags can I buy, and what are the bag limits?

Free allowance is 15 kg per person (20 kg on Zanzibar, Kisumu, Diani, Lamu, Malindi, Entebbe and Mombasa routes), in soft bags; advance bundles cover up to 30 kg; a 'freight' seat at an adult rate permits confirmed carriage of an extra 75 kg; check-in staff generally allow about 2 kg leeway.

How does the airline calculate extra baggage charges?

Excess baggage is sold as flat-rate bundles (0-10 kg, 11-20 kg, 21-30 kg) when booked in advance; check-in and unaccompanied baggage follow separate per-situation rates, and all rates are per kg unless stated as bundled.

What are the overweight or oversized baggage rules?

Excess baggage beyond the allowance is carried only at the captain's discretion if payload and space permit, charged at the prevailing freight rate; hard-shell suitcases are discouraged and may travel on a later flight; large sports equipment (surfboards, bicycles, golf bags) is only carried by prior arrangement.

Are there any important exceptions or restrictions I should know?

Infants not paying for a seat get no baggage allowance; 'freight' seats are not permitted on non-safari routes and are subject to Safarilink Operations discretion; a complimentary secure store for excess baggage is available at the Wilson Airport office.
