  1. Go to gxairlines.com and open the baggage purchase entry (行李购买), which leads to the traveler-information query page.
  2. Enter passenger name, ID type and number, ticket number and flight date, complete the slider verification, accept the baggage notice (《行李须知》) and submit the query.
  3. Choose an excess-weight package (5/10/15/20/25/30/35/40 kg) before check-in and no later than 60 minutes before departure, then complete online payment.
  4. Keep the payment confirmation; invoices for baggage bought via the HNA app, mini-program or airport counter are issued through the Hainan Airlines WeChat mini-program, and via hotline 95370 for other channels.

Yes. Prepaid excess baggage weight can be bought online through the official website, HNA APP, HNA WeChat mini-program, team network, OTA or the 95370 call center. Only tickets issued on GX Airlines 872 ticket stock qualify, purchase must be completed before check-in and no later than 60 minutes before departure. International excess baggage can be bought via the HNA APP, call center or at check-in.

When is the deadline to buy extra baggage online?

Online prepaid baggage must be bought before check-in and strictly more than 60 minutes before scheduled departure. Once a boarding pass is issued, online purchase is no longer possible and any remaining excess must be paid at the airport counter.

How does the airline calculate extra baggage charges?

Charges are per kilogram and depend on the departure city group (Nanning departures vs all other stations) and the flight distance band (0-800 km, 800-1600 km, 1600 km and above). Online channels sell fixed 5 kg-increment packages from 5 kg to 40 kg per transaction; airport counters charge per 1 kg using the formula (checked weight minus free allowance) times the applicable rate, in CNY with no rounding.

How many extra bags can I buy, and what are the bag limits?

Each online transaction covers 5 kg to 40 kg in 5 kg steps (5/10/15/20/25/30/35/40 kg). If more than 40 kg is needed, split it into two purchases. Online top-ups follow a no-refund-for-unused, pay-extra-at-airport principle. The gate carry-on upgrade (随身达, CNY 240 per piece) allows at most 2 carry-on items per passenger and is currently sold at Nanning, Luoyang, Jinan, Xi'an, Shenyang, Harbin, Qingdao and Chongqing stations.

Is it cheaper to buy extra baggage online in advance vs at the airport?

Yes, buying online in advance is cheaper than paying at the airport. For example, on flights of 1600 km and above the online rate is CNY 23/kg from Nanning and CNY 20/kg from other stations, versus CNY 25/kg at the airport counter. Any top-up paid at the airport for weight beyond a prepaid package does not get the online discount.

What are the overweight or oversized baggage rules?

Domestic excess is charged purely by weight: the billable weight is checked weight minus the ticket's free allowance, multiplied by the per-kg rate. International excess baggage has no public fixed price table; it is sold through the HNA APP, call center or check-in counter. Oversized-piece fees are not published as separately purchasable online products.

Can I get a refund or transfer extra baggage if I cancel or change my booking?

Prepaid baggage bought together with a ticket moves with the ticket on voluntary online changes when handled via call center or direct ticket offices (a refund of the baggage payment applies if the new cabin has a free allowance); separately bought excess weight cannot be changed online, so refund it online and repurchase. Refunds are allowed before check-in and before the bag is checked, via 95370 or email [email protected]. Prepaid excess weight cannot be transferred to other airlines.

Are there any important exceptions or restrictions I should know?

Online purchase supports itineraries where both segments are operated by GX Airlines, and requires 872 ticket stock. On a single contract combining international and domestic segments, the domestic legs follow the international segment's free allowance and excess-charge rules. Invoices for baggage bought via the HNA app, mini-program or airport counter are issued through the Hainan Airlines WeChat mini-program; other channels via hotline 95370.
