FAQ

Can I buy extra baggage online after booking?

Yes. Prepaid excess baggage for domestic flights can be bought online after booking through the official website, APP, WeChat mini-program, OTA, or the 24-hour customer service center, as well as at the airport check-in counter.

Where do I buy extra baggage?

Buy it on hbhk.com.cn (click Buy Baggage and log in), in the Hebei Airlines APP or WeChat mini-program, via OTA or the 24-hour hotline 0311-96699, or pay directly at the airport check-in counter.

How many extra bags can I buy, and what are the bag limits?

Domestic prepaid baggage is sold in fixed weight packages of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 kg per segment. Each checked piece must not exceed 50 kg or 40 × 60 × 100 cm; carry-on is limited to 5 kg per piece (2 pieces in Business, 1 piece in Economy).

How does the airline calculate extra baggage charges?

Domestic pricing is weight-based and distance-banded (0-799 km, 800-1599 km, 1600+ km); R/U/Z/T fares with zero allowance use fixed package prices, while other cabins pay 1.5% of the same-day full Y fare per kg. International and regional pricing is piece-based by route group (Northeast Asia vs Hong Kong/Macau/Taiwan/Southeast Asia/South Asia).

What are the overweight or oversized baggage rules?

On international and regional routes, overweight pieces of 23-32 kg cost CNY 1000 per piece and 32-45 kg pieces cost CNY 3000 per piece; oversized pieces of 159-203 cm total dimensions cost CNY 1000 per piece. Pieces over 45 kg or over 300 cm total dimensions are refused, and 32-45 kg or 203-300 cm pieces need prior airline approval. These are fee rules collected at the airport, not online-purchasable products.

Is it cheaper to buy extra baggage online in advance vs at the airport?

Yes. Online prepaid package prices are lower than airport counter rates on the same route; for example an R/U/Z/T passenger on a 0-799 km sector departing outside Shijiazhuang pays CNY 53 for 5 kg online versus CNY 75 at the counter (5 x CNY 15 per kg).

Do partner-operated or codeshare flights have different baggage rules?

Yes. Codeshare flights in R/U/Z/T booking classes keep the standard 20 kg Economy allowance instead of zero; through and transfer (connecting) itineraries also use the 20 kg rule. Tickets rebooked from other airlines keep the original carrier's allowance.

Can I get a refund or transfer extra baggage if I cancel or change my booking?

Yes. If you cancel your trip and the baggage allowance is unused, you can get a refund: counter-bought excess is refunded at the excess-baggage counter with your ID, and unused prepaid products are refunded via the 24-hour hotline 0311-96699. No refund is given if the airline already carried you to your destination or you voluntarily abandoned the trip mid-way; forced termination without reaching the destination qualifies for a full refund. Prepaid baggage cannot be transferred to another airline, but it follows your ticket automatically when you change to another flight under the same ticket number.

Are there any important exceptions or restrictions I should know?

T-class passengers on Shijiazhuang to Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shanghai Hongqiao, and Shanghai Pudong round trips keep a 20 kg allowance, as do T-class group passengers ticketed for travel before 1 September 2026. R/U/Z fares departing Beijing Daxing keep a 20 kg allowance. Infants on infant tickets have no free allowance but may carry or check one stroller free of charge.
